Christen C. Raunkiaer

(1860 - 1938)

Botanist. Graduated in botany 1885. Scientific assistant at the Botanical Garden and the Botanical Museum 1893-1911. Study tour to the Danish West Indies (now Virgin Islands) and St. Domingo 1905-06, and to Italy, North Africa, Spain and S. France 1909-10. Professor of botany at the University of Copenhagen 1912-23. Perhaps best known for his "life forms" based on the position of the wintering buds.
