Anders Sandö Örsted

(1816 - 1872)

Botanist and zoologist. Secondary school teacher 1839-44; travelled in Central America, mainly Nicaragua 1845-48; lecturer, later professor of botany at the University of Copenhagen 1851-1862. Large collections from Central America at the Botanical Museum. Publications chiefly on Acanthaceae and Fagaceae.
